Best Asian Hair Cut: I went there for a haircut last October, Jennifer did my hair and she was great! I got a fresh layered look using only shears, so no rough edges. It's a short style I tried for the first time, very Hong Kong. My friend actually recommended it to me, and we went together. Ken cut her hair, and she had permed hair. She loved it too! It was a great change for me from going to American salons in upstate NY. I'm considering getting a perm now, and will probably travel down there for that. Great service, and they also recommended unique products that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else.
great place!!: If you're Asian and go to Flushing for your hair... this is definitely the place you want to be at!! The products are great, from Europe, Japan, and US. The service is awesome, minus a few of the apprentices' service due to stupidity. I've been going there for 7 years now. I've enjoyed it since then and sincerely hope that you'll try them out and give them a chance.
They do hair coloring, perms, straight perms, cuts, styling, updos, makeup, facials, massages, and nails and more. They have almost everything~
I've not had a facial there, so I can't say... but the nail stuff and hair stuff is awesome!! I also wax there~ Maggie's the best for waxing!! Most of them are great for nails. I always ask for Maggie though, 'cause she has a son about my age and we talk about stuff together. Ken and Jennifer are awesome for hair cuts!! Jennifer specialize is updos and stuff~ When those HK/Taiwan stars come to AC for performances, she does their hair. She's got pics of her doing their hair and stuff all over the wall!! Ken's my personal favorite for hair cuts. His layering skills are the best!!
The prices there is slightly higher than most Flushing salons, but it's definitely worth it!! It is most definitely cheaper than Manhattan!! Although I would say they're not high class Manhattan salons. They're for the average Joe kind of store with affordable great products and services!!

Great Haircut at reasonable price !: I have been going there for more than 10 years. Jennifer and Ken cut my hair. Both are great and very skillful. I won't go anywhere else ! Prices might be higher than the average price charged by other salon in Flushing but it's well worth it. At least I won't worry how I look after a haircut. I put my trust in them. That's hard to find !

RG I really loved this place. The people were friendly, sweet, all smiles. The salon is nice and neat, not at all crowded. They take their time with you. I spent $26 for wash, cut, and style. I thought it was well worth it. Definitely recommend it.

blou611This place is the place to go for all your hair needs, but only because I've been getting my hair done religiously with the stylist Kem also known as Sam! I've been to almost every salon possible within Queens and Manhattan and without a doubt Kem is the BEST stylist ever! As for Istana, they are very clean and they have very friendly workers.

Audrey Great service, talented, creative and attention to detail. I need to get my hair done for my brother in law's wedding, and Jennifer is amazing!! I received many compliments during the night, and I also brought my mother in law and sister in law over to get their hair set up...we all love it! And, the nail art work is great too! I will be setting up my hair appointment with her for my wedding because it's simply amazing!I can't wait to see the pictures!

Indeed Istana Salon is a complete one stop service station from head to toe for men and women in Hair Styling, Skincare, Aroma Therapy, Hyro-Therapy, Dry Sauna, Steam Sauna, Reflexology, Nail, permanent make-up and etc. The quality of the services is excellent with very reasonable prices. In fact, Istana prices are considered inexpensive compared to Salons in Manhattan. I had my hair cut, washed and blow dried for only $23. Istana Salon has a variety race of customers and the Hair Stylists speak many languages. Istana Salon is conveniently located in the heart of Flushing with easy access from Subway 7th train at Main Street stop and is 2 minutes away from huge municipal parking lot. I would highly recommend you to try them out and hope you can have your confidence back in the NEW YOU like me.

Meticulous, caring, and I got just what I asked for. Definitely ask for Jennifer. She's great and she's not afraid to go a little less traditional, if you ask her to.

i know that ctown has tons of great (aka cheap, fast, and excellent) chinese salons, but head into to Flushing and try out Jennifer. She's the head stylist at the salon and she's great. I've been trying to get a decent short hair style for the last year and half and every stylist I've been to INSISTS on layering my hair in the worst possible way. Jennifer listens which is KEY while still encouraging me to try new things with my hair.
The salon is newly renovated so very pretty. It's in a great open space. Cut was $20
usually I get my hair washed but I didn't last time so not sure what it costs but can't be more than $10. I don't like massages and things like that but I know for sure they do that.
